Food for Foxes

Jesus Christ had a great multitude of people with him. When he taught a parable saying that his followers must eat his flesh and drink his blood to enter the kingdom of God, all but his 12 disciples left him. A disciple realized in the spirit the true meaning of this parable when they said, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life.” NLT John 6:61-71

61 Jesus was aware that his disciples were complaining, so he said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what will you think if you see the Son of Man ascend to heaven again? 63 The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. 64 But some of you do not believe me.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn’t believe, and he knew who would betray him.) 65 Then he said, “That is why I said that people can’t come to me unless the Father gives them to me.”

66 At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. 67 Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”

68 Simon Peter replied, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. 69 We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.”

70 Then Jesus said, “I chose the twelve of you, but one is a devil.” 71 He was speaking of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who would later betray him.

We know that Jesus was born in a manger. A manger is a food trough for animals. Jesus was also born in Bethlehem, which translates to House of Bread. Jesus on more than one occasion also referred to himself as the bread of life.

But what does this all mean? Can you eat Jesus? Can you drink his blood? To this end, there is even a ritual of Communion, (Matthew 26:26-28) where believers take a small bread wafer (cracker) and a small cup of grape juice (wine) to signify the eating of Jesus’ body and blood. Is this a figurative thing or a literal thing? New Living Translation John 6:41-58

41 Then the people began to murmur in disagreement because he had said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Isn’t this Jesus, the son of Joseph? We know his father and mother. How can he say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

43 But Jesus replied, “Stop complaining about what I said. 44 For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up. 45 As it is written in the Scriptures, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me. 46 (Not that anyone has ever seen the Father; only I, who was sent from God, have seen him.)

47 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life. 48 Yes, I am the bread of life! 49 Your ancestors ate manna in the wilderness, but they all died. 50 Anyone who eats the bread from heaven, however, will never die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; and this bread, which I will offer so the world may live, is my flesh.”

52 Then the people began arguing with each other about what he meant. “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?” they asked.

53 So Jesus said again, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you. 54 But anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise that person at the last day. 55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. 56 Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. 57 I live because of the living Father who sent me; in the same way, anyone who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever.”

For everyone that feeds on spiritual sources of energy, such energy can be procured through the body and blood of Christ. The people didn’t understand this easily, most likely, because they didn’t understand spiritual things in general. You have stories of many mythological creatures that feed off blood like vampires, and others that feed off life force itself like wraiths and nogitsune of lore. They depict them as running through the darkness trying to steal both from humanity, and sometimes, each other. But why? If we are crazy, like a fox, and think this is bound in some form of truth, why could they not simply take part in Christ’s Communion and eat of his blood and body? Here is another example: NLT John 4:5-15

5 Eventually he came to the Samaritan village of Sychar, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob’s well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. 7 Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.” 8 He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food.

9 The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?”

10 Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

11 “But sir, you don’t have a rope or a bucket,” she said, “and this well is very deep. Where would you get this living water? 12 And besides, do you think you’re greater than our ancestor Jacob, who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his animals enjoyed?”

13 Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. 14 But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”

15 “Please, sir,” the woman said, “give me this water! Then I’ll never be thirsty again, and I won’t have to come here to get water.”

In this Jesus makes it apparent by sitting next to a famous well of the Old Testament that when he speaks of water he doesn’t mean physical water to drink. Since he said, “It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them” it’s fair to gather he was speaking of the Holy Spirit, whose temple has become your body. NLT 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.

If he is the eternal sacrifice, and you commit your way unto his ways, would he not also provide for you in this way? Have you not reasoned among yourselves, “This was only for the Jews, or the Gentiles?” But was for all creation, as the story goes, God made all things, and all creation sings his praises. (Psalm 19:1:) Aren’t the depictions of angels almost always mixed with animals, and just barely humanoid? (Ezekiel 1:5-10) I would surmise they only shapeshift to look like humans to interact with them, (Hebrews 13:2) sounding familiar to kitsune lore?

If you only commit your way to the way of Jesus, as per the Bible, you could accept these things and his sacrifice. So you no longer have to wander in the darkness, feasting on corrupt things and each other, while never being what you were meant to be. Is this all insanity? As crazy as Jesus who said, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.
